Criminal Background Checks

Many public and private employers require background checks for employment purposes.  State law mandates that schools, day care centers, health care facilities and others require such checks as part of the hiring process.  Some individuals are also required to have a background check to obtain professional licensure.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) regularly processes about 1 million background checks annually. Through WebCheck, agencies transmit fingerprints and other data electronically to BCI, to be compared against a database of criminal fingerprints to determine if an individual has a criminal record. BCI then issues a background report that helps schools, hospitals, daycare centers, and other employers make critical hiring decisions quickly and with confidence. BCI also partners with the FBI to make national background checks available to Ohioans. FBI checks can be conducted using the national WebCheck™ system as long as state law requires them as a condition of employment.

The Area Agency on Aging Region 9 is an authorized Webcheck Agency. We are available by appointment only on Monday’s, Wednesday’s and Friday’s, to do background checks for home health providers, non-profits-such as schools, hospitals and hospice agencies. The cost is $27 for BCI and $29 for FBI or $51 for both BCI/FBI.  We only accept cash and it has to be the exact amount, as we do not have cash on-site to make change.  A photo id is required at the time of the background check.  To schedule an appointment call 740-432-6600, option 5.  Background checks are completed at our office located at 1730 Southgate Parkway, Cambridge, Ohio.
